God has created humanity to bear His image. Because of this, there is a special value on human life. This applies not only to the question of ending a life, but also the quality of life. This week, Pastor Ben walks us through the ideas to see human life as God does.
What Does the Bible Say
Once we come to a personal and saving knowledge of Christ, the next step we are told to take is to share this knowledge with others. This is what it means to be involved in ministry. Many people may think of ministry as a formal program, but this week, Pastor Ben tells us that most ministry occurs as part of our day-to-day lives. We need to look for what Jesus is doing in the world around us, take part in His mission, and invite others to join with us to spread His glory.
This week, we look again at the biblical view of the church. God has called the church the bride of Christ. Pastor Doug begins to walk us through this idea by teaching what a marriage is to look like. He then moves on to show us how Jesus shows his love for us.
As we have looked into the Bible's view on sin, we need to know what to do about the situation. This week, Pastor Doug teaches that God has already taken care of the problem for us. When our culture has such obvious divisions, we need to see that we are united by a need for salvation. This salvation is a free gift of God, if all we do is accept it.
Last week, we looked at what it means to worship. This week, Pastor Doug starts us off by teaching that we cannot properly worship if we have sin in our lives. The grace of God covers our sin, but we need to pay attention to running toward worship instead of just running away from sin.
The word "worship" is often used in our culture differently than it is in the Bible. This week, Pastor Ben teaches us that the Bible's definition is much more broad. Worship is to be a response to God's love for us, it is to encompass the entirety of our lives, and it is to change how we value the things we do.
We start a new series this week, looking at what the Bible has to say about various topics. A good place to start is to see what it says about itself. What is the Bible, and how does it apply to life in general? Pastor Doug gets us kicked off this week by looking at this important starting point.
